We planned to write sex toy trends every year. The development of sex toys is slower than fashion, IT or telecommunications technology. To the article Sex Toy Trends 2021 we're following up after 3 1/2 years.
Vibrators with better design
After two or three decades, the carnival and poor-looking vibrators are finally being replaced by vibrators with modern ergonomic designs. Quiet motors are still reserved, with a few exceptions, for expensive models above 50 Euro.
Dilda made of liquid silicone
We see more quality dildos from the material liquid silicone. However, they are still ridiculously hard and we have to ask for custom extra softness. However, PVC dildos and TPE dildos still outnumber silicone dildos.
Fantasy dildos
At the biggest exhibition of sex toys in Shanghai, we saw a complete explosion of silicone dildos of nonsensical colours and shapes. Completely blind design branches stemming from the high support of the erotic industry by the Chinese government, lack of creativity and design sense. Simply in style: Make 200 dildos, no matter what :).
The decline of BDSM
We don't know if this is a trend. Extasica has seen a decline in sales of BDSM equipment over the last 2 years. There is also a bit less interest in clinic, because other sex shops have started to do it. The interest in quality BDSM from genuine leather remains as low as it has always been. This is understandable - most people are fine with faux leather handcuffs and reprimands for play.
Our tip - Fucking machine
As early as 2023, quality fucking machines were on offer for around 500 EUR. The problem was having enough power for large dildos. Towards the end of 2024, one can high quality and relatively powerful fucking machine for 300 Euros. For that price it offers a lot of intense pleasure and disturbance. Quality fucking machine often outdoes a live partner or masturbation. Make sure you have accessories that allow you to put on any dildos. Otherwise it's unnecessarily expensive.
Real silicone virgins coming to market - 5th generation
Until 2019 we only knew of one manufacturer of real silicone (not TPE) virgins and a virgin cost around 3000 Euros. Now they are available from multiple manufacturers at half the price. They have adjustments for standing without visible screws in the feet, increased joint mobility, shot realistic hair and, if desired, a solid non-replaceable head with a natural head and neck joint. However, we still consider sex dolls as sex toys with a poor price-performance ratio and are waiting for better prices. In China, a TPE doll for 400 Euros might be fine, but in the EU, with shipping, taxes and a 1,000 Euro markup, it's not such a good buy. A silicone pan costs twice as much.
Minimum exhibitors at erotic shows
At the last erotic exhibition for the public Venus Berlin 2024 (from 2025 newly and only in Amsterdam) there were only about 7 marginal sex shops from the BDSM segment and one manufacturer of fucking machines. The same has been the case in the Czech Republic for some time. Erotic shows for the audience are therefore more like erotic shows - festivals. Those who want to go to a sex toy exhibition have to go to B2B exhibitions.
