tools: ideally small lever pliers or a blade of a hacksaw (combination tools are not enough) and a hammer or combination tools
Loosen (gently pull) the wire by hand and remove the ball. Shorten the wire by the desired length circumference = 2p*r (effectively 1cm on each side of the wire). Pinch or pull the wire together with pliers (combination pliers) to make it as round as possible. Pull the wire slightly by hand by springing it to insert the bead. Clamp the ball.
